“I draw my inspiration from the simple quite beauty I see in the American Indian
and of the Japanese form. I look forward to the journey I travel in creating my
designs. It is a wonderful experience to see my personal development evolve along
with my artistic expression from the beginning of the creative processes to where
I am today. The sky is the limit!”
—Kim Kubiak
After experimenting with several mediums threw the years, Kim ultimately found that working
with her hands in the clay was where she belonged, “As if the clay had been waiting for her.”
Wheel throwing, hand building and carving are the main techniques Kim uses to create her pottery. Finishing processes include electric kiln with glazing, pit fire with wood or Kim’s
favorite Native American smoking process that produces a rich black finish. These various combinations help create great diversity and in turn allow Kim to explore her own creative
force through the medium of pottery.
